Things to Do

For guests who plan to spend some extra time in Park City, there is an abundance of great things to do. Some might like to hike, golf, mountain bike, shop historic Main Street, or brave the Alpine Slide. Below find a list of just some of our favorite summer activities. You can find out more at Park City's Chamber of Commerce's extensive website.

The Great Outdoors

Hiking

Hiking in Park City is a summer activity not to be missed! There are over 100 scenic trails to explore at every level. Favorites of the Gomberg and Horn families include: the Spiro Trail from Snow Flower condos up to Shadow Lake; the Bloods Lake Trail from Guardsman Pass; the Solamere Loop in Lower Deer Valley; and the Silver Lake Trail from the bottom of Deer Valley's Silver Lake chairlift - just steps away from Stein Eriksen Lodge.

Follow the link below to sort through 132 trails and find the perfect hike!

Golf

There are many golf courses to choose from in and around Park City, but whichever one you choose, one thing is certain. Your long shots will soar in Park City's high altitude! According to the golfers in our life, the Park City Municipal Golf course is lovely - but you should book well in advance. Other courses they recommend are Canyons Golf and Wasatch Mountain & Soldiers Hollow in Midway.

Biking

Park City is a Mecca for mountain biking enthusiasts. There are scores of great trails, many locations in town to rent equipment, and the resorts will even let you load up your bike on the ski lifts to get you up to the top of their trails.

You can also rent an E-bike from Pedego in town, if you want a fantastic way to explore Old Town, the Union Pacific Rail Trail, or through Round Valley.

Shopping

Historic Main Street

Don't miss strolling and browsing all of the fantastic shops on Main Street! You'll find everything from handmade furniture, books and sportswear to art collectibles and Western antiques at the over 70 retail stores, one-of-a-kind boutiques, and art galleries.

Favorite spots include Java Cow for ice cream, Dolly's for books, Olive & Tweed for fashion, Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory for sweets, New West Knife Works for knives, and Sock City for (you guessed it) socks!

While on Main, stop into the Park City Museum and check out our old territorial jail in the basement!

Outlets Park City

Brand name stores, locally owned businesses, and a local art collective can all be found just down the road from Park City at Kimball's Junction. Plenty of parking and plenty of deals can be found.

Live Entertainment

Kinky Boots @ the Egyptian Theatre

This historic Main Street playhouse, built in 1926, has been the host of performances from concerts, musicals, old fashioned melodramas, the first "talky" movie in Park City, and was the original home of the Sundance Festival.

This summer, great seats for their production of Tony Award winning "Kinky Boots" are still available.

Fun & Games

Park City Mountain

Every summer, the Park City Mountain Resort transforms its base into an Adventure Park - with miniature golf, zip line, and trampolines. Our favorite rides are the adrenaline rush inducing Alpine Slide and Utah's largest Mountain Coaster.

Utah Olympic Park

For even more thrills - spend some time at the Utah Olympic Park - the home to bobsled, skeleton and luge events during the 2002 Olympics! Extreme Tubing, Extreme Zip, Drop Tower, Airbag Jumps, Bobsled Experience, Alpine Slide - even the names of their rides get your heart pumping. 3.5 hour passes can be purchased online, but single activity tickets can be purchased in person only.

Escape Room Park City

Three escape room scenarios ranging from a collapsed mine shaft to pirate treasure are available at this Main Street business, developed by a local couple.

Beyond Park City

Heber Valley Railroad

The Heber Valley Railroad is a heritage railroad based in Heber City, Utah - just 20 minutes away from Park City. It runs train rides through breathtaking scenery by way of Provo Canyon in historic steam passenger cars fondly called "the Heber Creeper".

Timpanogos Cave

Timpanogos Cave US National Monument is a cave system on Mount Timpanogos in American Fork Canyon. The park is a 90 minute drive from Park City, through some of the prettiest scenery around - featuring Heber City, the Provo River, Sundance Resort, the Aspen Grove, and the Alpine Scenic Loop. A 1.5 mile steep but paved trail leads to three highly-decorated limestone caves full of spectacular stalactites, stalagmites, cave popcorn, and helictites which are accessible only by a guided tour from park rangers.

Scenic Drives

Some of the best scenic drives in Utah are within a few miles of Park City. These mountain passes and scenic byways will take you to some of the most breathtaking places in the West.

Frequently asked QUESTIONS

What do you mean by dressy casual & creative cocktail attire?

Don't let our dress codes cause you stress!

“Dressy Casual” is basically not formal but still put together- it’s how you’d dress to go out to dinner or grab a drink with your pals! We want you to have a blast at our Welcome Soiree, be comfortable, but don’t show up in your sweats from the plane ;)

By "Creative Cocktail" we mean that the dress code for our Wedding and Reception is a step down from traditional black tie formal. You don’t need to show up in a full gown or a tux, but do dress up and look your best - and bring the razzle dazzle, if you are so inclined. We plan to!

Color and sparkle is encouraged, especially greens and blues to match our mountain color pallete!

Where exactly is the Welcome Soiree?

Friday night's Welcome Soiree is for everyone we've invited to our wedding! We'll be kicking off the weekend with a party from 8-10 pm featuring appetizers, desserts, an open bar and dancing at the restaurant Riverhorse on Main.

You'll find this restaurant on the second floor of 540 Main Street, Park City, Utah 84060.

Where exactly is the Wedding & Reception?

All of Saturday's festivities will take place at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Deer Valley.

The Wedding Ceremony will be on the Flagstaff Mountain Deck. A cocktail hour will take place in the foyer and outdoor patios of the Stein Eriksen Ballroom. For the Reception, we'll move into the grand Stein Eriksen Ballroom.

For anyone interested in keeping the party going, from 11 pm-1 am we'll move the Afterparty down to another location at the Lodge called the Champions Club. This space features a variety of old school and high tech games - as well as some lovely outdoor seating around fire pits.

You'll find the Stein Eriksen Lodge at 7700 Stein Way, Park City, Utah, 84060.

What are the PARKING & Transportation OPTIONS?

For the Friday night Welcome Soiree, you can park along Park City's Main Street or in the parking garages behind Main on Swede Alley. You could also take one of the many FREE Park City Transit buses which have routes from most locations around Park City (including a stop right by Stein Eriksen Lodge) or a ride share like Uber or Lyft.

For the Saturday events at Stein Eriksen Lodge, complimentary valet will be offered for our guests who choose to drive.

Additionally, we are providing shuttle service to and from Snow Flower Condominiums and the Yarrow Doubletree Hotel in Park City up to Stein Eriksen Lodge. Our shuttles will run to the Lodge at 4:15 pm in plenty of time to get guests up for the ceremony. They will begin return runs to Snow Flower and the Yarrow once dinner is done and will continue until the Afterparty is complete at 1 am. Sign up for the shuttle service on our RSVP.

What time should I arrive for ceremony?

If you are driving, we recommend that you plan to arrive at Stein Eriksen Lodge at least 45 minutes before the start of the ceremony, to make sure you can valet and get to the Flagstaff Mountain Deck in plenty of time.

WILL THE CEREMONY BE OUTSIDE?

Our ceremony will take place on a deck with gorgeous mountain views. Since it can be warm and sunny mid-July at this elevation, please remember to wear sunscreen.

WILL THERE BE GLUTEN FREE/DAIRY FREE/VEGETARIAN OPTIONS?

Yes! The chefs at our events will be preparing a variety of options to meet everyone's dietary needs. Please let us know of your restrictions when you RSVP and our chef will make you a delicious alternative meal that suits your requirements.

Are the celebration locations wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, Friday's venue - Riverhorse on Main - does not have handicap access. Because of their status as a historic landmark, they have been unable to modify the building to accommodate handicap access. If you have mobility issues - please let us know and we will get you upstairs using strong arms.

Thankfully, all of the locations for Saturday's events have great access for wheelchairs.

CAN I TAKE PICTURES DURING THE CEREMONY?

We ask that you please turn off your cellphones & cameras DURING THE CEREMONY. Don't worry, we have hired a photographer and will have a lot of photos to share with you after the wedding.

Can I share photos of the weekend on social media?

Yes, we encourage guests to post pictures of the weekend to their social media channels, our only request is that you tag each photo with our wedding hashtag #DevonandJackalope so we can keep track of all of your pictures! You can also use this QR code which points to a google folder to upload & share your photos with us and with others.

Can I bring a date?

Our wedding is strictly RSVP only. We will only be able to accommodate those listed on your invitation.

Are you registered?

Your presence at our event is MORE than enough for us! Should you wish to gift, we ask that you contribute funds for our (eventual) honeymoon, or fund things for the two of us to do together! We have more material goods than we need already (Devon is entirely to blame for this).

What should I expect at high altitude?

Park City, Utah is 7000 feet above sea level, add to that Utah's dry, arid climate and most people start to feel the elevation!

You'll definitely be thirsty - so hydrate like crazy - you should increase your water intake even before you arrive in Utah! Your skin might start to feel very dry, so bring some great moisturizer. It's important to use sunscreen since high elevations mean more UV exposure. Be aware that alcohol hits more strongly at high altitude - one drink has the same effect as two at sea level.

Due to the lower oxygen levels at high elevations, a few of you might even start to have altitude sickness. If you do start experience dizziness, nausea, fatigue, or headache - these symptoms can typically be alleviated by resting, drinking plenty of water, avoiding strenuous activities, and refraining from smoking. Learn more at the link below.

I still have questions, who should I call?

If you still have questions - don't hesitate to reach out to one of us! Or you can send questions to devonandalsojack@gmail.com.
